Trampolining Intervarsity in Limerick
This year’s intervarsity took place between the 7th – 9th of November. The UCC Trampoline Club brought over 15 competitors to Limerick. Overall, between 100 and 150 people attended the competition organised by the UL Trampoline Club in the UL Sport Arena.
The event kicked off with a general warm-up session on Friday followed by a themed social night. It was a great opportunity to reconnect with students from different parts of the country. It allowed our new members to meet new people and become friends with like-minded people. The individual competitions were scheduled for Saturday and were available at four different levels; Novice, Intermediate, Advanced and Elite. We are proud to announce that three UCC students; Tommy Mallen (our first year rep), Colin Murphy and Fiona Cussen (our captain) medalled at Intermediate, Advanced and Elite levels respectively. After another enjoyable night-out, the synchronised trampoline and two-trick took place on Sunday morning.
The “synchro” pairs are judged on their form as well as how synchronised the moves are. We are very pleased to say that Colin Murphy and his partner won the Advanced category.
Two-trick is a relatively unprofessional competition. The main objective is to entertain the judges with the most exciting and dangerous combinations of somersaults and twists, at least at the highest level. Do not worry though, the performance was planned in advance and the competitor practised his or her 2-move routine beforehand! It was available at Beginner, Advanced and Jedi levels. Again, congratulations to Colin Murphy who won Advanced.
We are awaiting the release of the official results by UL.
Scottish Student Trampoline Open is the next competition on our calendars. We are very excited to spend an even longer weekend with an even bigger group of people in Edinburgh in February. We will use the time in between to polish our routines to represent the university well!
